There was something exhilarating about working with such a legacy brand as Portland’s Multnomah Athletic Club. I joined the Communications team to create a cohesive brand experience across a wide variety of media, from digital displays in the club, to event signage and advertising, to website graphics, to their monthly magazine, the Winged M. For the latter, I often had free reign on the creative direction for the covers, and before I left, I fully redesigned their masthead. I’m proud of leaving that very notable mark on the historic 130+ year old athletic and social club!

Results
The more cohesive brand experience elevated the esteemed club into a fresh new era. Where in the past, design was all over the place at the whim of the designers on hand, I established brand guidelines and graphic elements that made everything feel more intentional. For a club with a notable price tag, you want the member experience to be top notch, and the work I put in and standards I established helped do just that.
The Winged M magazine has a monthly readership of over 20,000 people. Work includes: cover design, article layout design, illustration.
I streamlined the design for all MAC events, creating a cohesive experience that reflected the professional and thoughtful services offered to their members. For each event, there were social media graphics, digital display graphics, website graphics, and occasionally signage to be posted around the facility. Each year the Winged M features a cover with the next year's board members. This was a trifold, and utilizes the new masthead I had recently designed. Work includes: photoshoot art direction and styling, photo editing, and graphic design.
Members of varying technical skills needed an easy way to see all athletic and wellness classes available. I created a visual menu to simplify the user experience. Work includes: creative direction, graphic design.
For this feature on the seasonal summer menu in one of the Club's restaurants, I was the creative director who handled nearly all the things. Work includes: creative direction, art direction, photography, photoshoot styling, magazine layout design.
This magazine cover was a complete labor of love. I collected all props, even from neighbors, and styled and photographed the shoot in my home. Work includes: creative direction, photography, photo styling, graphic design, illustration.
For an October issue of the Winged M, I designed an insert full of Halloween-themed activities and content. Work includes: creative direction, copywriting, recipe testing, photography, graphic design.
Logos created for the Club's social media icons and all Pride events.
This issue of the Winged M featured members involved in the creative arts. I layered a photo of one member who is a model over the watercolor painting by another. Then illustrated and collaged her outfit to reflect the wide variety of arts represented. Work includes: creative direction, graphic design, illustration.
I tried to maintain distinct visual identities for each type of club offering. Differing from the previously shown events, this is the style for new classes. Work includes creative direction, graphic design.
